This one-storey kitchen and family room addition to the rear of this North Toronto hsome satisfied the client's need for a better relationship with their backyard and to let more light into their primary living spaces.

A mature Maple tree constitutes part of the view the clients wanted to enjoy. In order to best ensure the survival of this Maple tree, only 8 ft. away from the structure at one point, we worked with an arborist, used suction excavation and put the addition on concrete piers.

The design also incorporated a powder room, two wood decks and four of the clients' stained glass windows from past homes.
